A new liquor producer is coming soon to the south side of town at 1879 S. Acoma St. Bear Creek Distillery is set to begin production this week on its lineup of spirits, which includes rye-based vodka, wheat-based vodka, silver rum, cask-strength rum aged in bourbon barrels, rye whiskey, wheat whiskey, and bourbon. Once things are rolling and a one- to two-month stock is built up, Bear Creek hopes to open to the public by Labor Day.
A tasting room will feature cocktails made with Bear Creek products, and the distillery is already selling items like copper mugs, flasks, and shot glasses on its website. The building itself features requisite tall ceilings, and the interior was built around showcasing the 2,000-liter still, serving as a centerpiece to the space.
