The brewery craze hasn't lost steam, with Call to Arms Brewing Company recently signing on a location in the Berkeley neighborhood. The building at 4526 Tennyson St. is currently in development by Revesco Properties, who handled the Old Major build-out. The new brewery is one of three anticipated businesses for the John's Garage project—formerly a vintage motorcycle museum—but the first one with a firm deal, made official following five months of location scouting and negotiations.
First announced back in April, the venture is an undertaking by three Avery Brewing alums: Chris Bell, Jesse Brookstein, and Jon Cross. Their craft brewing approach will pair old-world tradition with a modern approach, but don't expect a specific style or flavor profile; the trio will brew what they or the community has a thirst for.
Even without a location, Call to Arms has gotten its feet wet through a collaboration with Cannonball Creek Brewing, producing Peace & Assist No. 1, a farmhouse sour ale that debuted at the Golden brewery's taproom on July 26.
Look for Call to Arms to open in early 2015. Stay tuned for more details.
