The center area of the Source has gone unoccupied since CapRock Farm Bar closed earlier this year, but come August 20 there will be a new place to imbibe, with the opening of Yacht Club. News of the new spot came first through 5280 Magazine. The casual community bar—owned by Mary Wright—will complement another business at the Source, specialty bottle shop the Proper Pour, which is operated by Wright's life partner, Mclain Hedges.
With an emphasis on social drinking cultures, the full-service bar will take people on a booze cruise of options: Think Ti'Punch from the French parts of the Caribbean, Spanish sherry, and more local customs like juleps or a beer-and-shot. The wine list will largely feature natural wines, with both quirky and classic choices. If you commit to two glasses any bottle will be available by the glass, which aims to encourage trying something new.
Beer will consist of rotating brews that pair well with food, which will be provided in collaboration with Acorn. The focus will be to serve a small selection of unique food that complements the beverages, instead of the other way around.
To transform the space, custom-designed black couches and low tables have replaced the back area's table seating, creating more room for casual lounging. Overhead, a custom light piece from local artist Evan Miller will hang, and all the upholstery comes from canvas and leather goods outfit Winter Session.
