Since old-school Italian deli Carbone's closed back in early 2013, the shop at 1221 West 38th Avenue has remained relatively untouched—save for paper in the windows. But recently, the signage has been removed and it's received a fresh coat of paint, drawing questions of what might be in the works.
Housed in a building that's owned by neighboring Chubby's, word is that Carbone's is still fulfilling large wholesale orders like chicharrón for the green chile-slinging institution, though there's no indication of plans for a full-blown reboot. For now we'll have to wonder what type of eatery might eventually take its place. Leave your thoughts in the comments.
