The Bautsch Building, located in West Highland on West 32nd Avenue between Perry and Osceola streets, is experiencing turnover with the closures of Rise & Shine and Highland Pacific.

Housed inside Basil Doc's Pizza, Rise & Shine has been a spot for Southern-style biscuits at breakfast and lunch. However, Basil Doc's decided to add a breakfast component to the menu, necessitating Rise & Shine to vacate the shared space. Additionally, the original Rise & Shine—operated out of another Basil Doc's in Crestmoor—has closed too. A note from owner Seth Rubin on Rise & Shine's website states, "We are diligently looking for new spaces so we can keep the fun going."

Meanwhile, at Highland Pacific next door, it appears that the seafood spot is no longer. A few months ago the restaurant closed with the promise of a remodel, but then a tax seizure notice appeared on the door, according to Cafe Society. Now, the windows are papered over and a for-lease sign is posted in front.
