After the bustle of the holidays January is typically known as slow season for restaurants, which makes it an ideal time for renovations large and small. Rioja is currently closed for its makeover, and spots like Fruition and Highland Tavern have announced upcoming planned closures for their projects.
And as of January 4, Cucina Colore is also closed for a few weeks to take on a renovation. Updates are being provided via the contemporary Italian spot's Facebook page, and the construction looks to be extensive. After 20 years at East Third Avenue and St. Paul Street, the restaurant will expand into the adjacent former retail space, adding a new wine bar and 25-seat semi-private dining room.
Taking down walls
Progress has been made with the installation of a sleek bar top and unique wine wall. The main dining room will also be completely remodeled to create a casual-chic environment.

Once complete, Cucina Colore stands to resemble the rendering below. Along with the cosmetic changes, there are also plans to roll out a new drink menu and "tastes" items, while retaining its signature dishes.
