The family-friendly Chinese eatery located at 1591 S Colorado Blvd1591 South Colorado Boulevard has closed its doors today. After 33 years in business, the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Yuan, were ready to take a break from operating a restaurant full-time. They posted a message on the door of the restaurant informing guests of the shutter. It read:

After 33 years of serving metro Denver, Red Coral Chinese Restaurant will be closing on January 26th.

Since immigrating to Korea from China, Mr. and Mrs. Yuan have been in the restaurant business. They arrived in Colorado in the mid-70s and operated a little space on Broadway and Cornell. At the time, Denver's Chinese restaurants could be counted on one hand. In 1982 Red Coral Chinese Restaurant was opened. Our long time customers may recall the restaurant had a distinct Italian decor. 1990, we moved across the parking lot to our current location.

Over the decades we have seen families grow. You've come to us to celebrate birthday, weddings, births, and just because. We've also been there for sad times and shared in your sorrows. We thank you for those memories. For it will be the customers we will miss the most.

On the bright side, Mr. and Mrs. Yuan will only be semi-retired. Though they have plans to travel and enjoy things that never had time for, they will also be helping to expand Lollicup Denver's menu. So it's not necessarily "Good Bye."

Forever Grateful.
