Is Downing Street Ready for a Restaurant Makeover?

The busy street is in the midst of what can be serious change.

The Downing Street Grill is officially for sale. A sports bar of sorts located at 3090 Downing Street, the spot used to serve deep fried snacks and to show Denver sporting events. It went through different owners and never truly became a staple of the neighborhood. Now a sign outside the pale red building entices passersby to open a restaurant or a brewery there.

One block away, the casual D line Restaurant is for sale as well. The brightly colored neighborhood spot at the end of the D train is still open but a for sale sign alerts of impending change.

It's not all closings for the Cole neighborhood though: Josh Pollack, owner of Rosenberg's Bagels and Delicatessen, has recently purchased a space at 3350 Downing, and is converting it into an Italian deli and market. After creating a destination spot in Five Points with his bagel shop, Pollack will bring his attention to this neighboring area next year.
