Chipotle Faces New E Coli Probe

The darling of fast casual cannot catch a break.

On Monday, December 21, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that it is investigating a more recent batch of E. coli cases linked to Chipotle, the Denver Post reported. The CDC has no information as to whether this E. coli stand is linked to the outbreak that began in October. Five people became sick between November 18 and 26, none of them in Colorado.

The cloud of bad publicity related to food-related illnesses caused the homegrown company a 16 percent drop in sales in November.Shares of the company dropped 3.5 percent, or $19.07, to close at $522.01.
