This was the 4th year for the Last Slinger Standing, a competition that takes place during the Arizona Cocktail Week. In November, auditions were held to see who would battle it out in cocktail contest. For the first time, Denver got its chance - with Brittany Wangsness of TAG.
The competition was a bracket-style tournament, with bartenders going head-to-head to make it into the finals. Each bartender is given two ingredients and has six minutes to whip up a drink. The bartender with the best drink moved on to the next round. Three judges decided the faith of the drink slingers.
Wangsness impressed the judges and brought it home, showing up with skills that earned a large cash prize, a trophy, and a cash prize for the local United States Bartenders' Guild chapter.
