With all the change in LoHi over the past few years, new construction and developments have caused some establishments to lose their prime view (see: Linger, Lola). But Highland Tavern is actually creating a new line of sight for itself as the second story is developed.
Part of a renovation that started last May, the plans for the mezzanine level include garage doors that open up to provide a view of downtown. The expansion grows into part of Highland Tavern's property that was left unused, adding 100 more seats and doubling tap lines from 12 to 24. In order to complete kitchen upgrades, there will be a brief closure from this Saturday, February 7 to Friday, February 13 at 11 a.m. Expect the full makeover to be revealed this spring.
