Steve Redzikowski of Acorn and Oak at Fourteenth and Alex Figura of Lower 48 are among the ten chefs representing the Southwest region for Food & Wine Magazine's "The People's Best New Chef" award. The program, now in its fifth year, spotlights chefs who have run their own kitchens for five years or less. Redzikowski was the Southwest region's finalist last year and is nominated again.
Nine other regions across the country are selecting their own favorite. The chef with the most votes in each region will be named a finalist. The finalist with the most votes overall will be named The People's Best New Chef and will be featured in the July issue of the prestigious magazine.
Online voting is open now through April 8 at 5 p.m. EDT. The finalists will be announced online at foodandwine.com on April 9.
