Highland Tap & Burger: Dinner on Saturday at 6 P.M.

New, 1 comment

It is always busy at this popular LoHi spot, but it is worth the wait and hustle.

The LoHi burger and beer emporium, Highland Tap & Burger has become a local institution. Busy at all times from lunch until well into the evening, the spot owned and operated by Juan and Katie Padro goes through 750 pound of beef each week. The kitchen hand-cuts 2500 pounds of potatoes in a week for fries. During football season, some 280 pounds of wings are sold each weekend.

Highland Tap & Burger has won the Denver Burger Battle and placed in the top 3 every year it has been in it. Numerous other publications from 5280 Magazine to Westword and Zagat consistently named it among the best burgers in town. People like to eat there. The busy bar does more in food sales than it does in bar sales.

Speaking of bar sales, beer accounts for 58% of the bar sales here with some 80 kegs being sold each week .The beer list is 100% curated by women. There are two female cicerones with a 3rd about to join the team.

An average Saturday means about 1200 covers, with up to 1600 covers having happened on particularly busy nights. Wait times have been over three hours in the past and guests actually stayed. Record tips for a server in one day? $890.
