After bringing its barbecue to eaters on-the-go since 2013, Big Country Bar B Que's will plant its home-cooked roots in the Sunnyside neighborhood and open its doors in early May.
Scooping up the space of the former casual yet gourmet spot Bocadillo's at 4044 Tejon Street, the new tenant may have lopped off the "Bar B Que" from its title, but by no means from its menu. In this new home, Big Country's will continue to use locally sourced meats, fresh ingredients, and family recipes. Expect the same messy, but worth it brisket, ribs, pulled pork and burnt ends as the food truck offered, but add some healthier offerings, like a variety of salads. And though the permanent address will require diners to do the visiting, a grab-and-go menu will give the same "gotta have it now" feeling that accompanied mobile barbecue feasts.
