The Penrose Room at The Broadmoor Hotel is one of the nominees in the latest 10Best Readers' Choice travel award contest. The beautiful restaurant is one of 20 contenders for the Best Hotel Restaurant category in the country, as chosen by hotel travel experts. Penrose is up against hotel restaurants from Washington, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Supporters of the home-restaurant can cast votes online before May 11 at noon ET. Winners will be announced May 13.
Two Colorado distilleries made Food Republic's a list of 35 Independent Craft Distillers That Need To Be On Your Radar. Leopold Brothers, Denver's extremely diverse and environmentally conscious distillery offrs a gold-medal-winning Silver Tree American Small Batch Vodka, as well as some fruity libations. Breckenridge Distillery also made the list, pouring high-rye bourbon and vodka using "snowmelt water".
Woody Creek Distillers, located in Basalt took home gold at the 15th annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The distillery received the highest honor, taking home the double gold medal for its Woody Creek Colorado 100% Potato Vodka. Woody Creek was more than pleased with the win from the nation's highly esteemed spirits competition.
