Slated to open the first week in June of this year, Alpine Modern Cafe will be located at 904 College Avenue in Boulder's University neighborhood in a space previously occupied by Delilah's Pretty Good Grocery Store and The Second Kitchen.

Owner Lon McGowan is doing a major remodel of the old, stone building so it will have the same clean and design-focused minimalistic aesthetic much like his Alpine Modern gift shop in downtown Boulder.

Newly hired Cafe Manager Alex Baum, who helped opened the Wild Goose Meeting House in Colorado Springs, plans to have the menu filled with coffee, chai, hot chocolate, fresh-made pastries, ice cream, and small plates with Scandinavian influenced sandwiches and specialty toasts covered with the likes of smoke trout, dill, and more.

Baum says they will be taking the coffee game seriously and he believes in going above and beyond, and not just simply brewing the coffee. Alpine Modern will have a batch-brew coffee made on a Curtis Gemini, and manually brewing through a Chemex and Yama Cold Drip tower. Baum shares, "We plan on having options for every type of person in the Boulder community."

Prior to the first week of June opening date, Alpine Modern also plans to be teaching coffee classes as well as hosting public coffee cuppings. With the growing Alpine Modern brand that focuses on design and architecture from mountain regions around the world, the space and menu is sure to be unique and appealing to Boulderites.
