Boulder darling Basta, a restaurant helmed by chef Kelly Whitaker, will close from May 31 through June 3 for improvements. When it reopens, the space located in the Peloton development at 3601 Arapahoe Avenue will be updated. The newly added open air bar window gives guests a front seat to the kitchen and bar. A new chef's table tasting menu will compliment the experience, available by reservation for up to only four guests.
The menu and bar program will also see changes: Basta will focus on a selection of frequently changing, seasonal dishes meant to highlight the kitchen's only cooking source, the wood-fire oven. A pre-order program for family-style dining experiences will also be introduced. Guests will now have the opportunity to order popular, off-the-menu dishes in advance, like large format proteins with sides, or lasagna.
Co-owner and beverage director Alan Henkin will add bottle-aged, batched, and traditional cocktails to the drink offerings. A select beer list has also been developed, featuring specific styles to pair with the flavors from the wood-fire oven.
