After 11 years of service, chef Kelly Liken is selling the Gateway Building space that still houses Restaurant Kelly Liken in Vail. The last dinner service will take place on Saturday, May 16. "We were offered the opportunity to sell the restaurant space, which gives us the unique ability to explore new and different ways to expand our hospitality brand," Liken explained.
Kelly Liken, the brand, is not going anywhere, but there is no word on what the next step is for her and partner and husband Rick Colomitz. One thing is certain: Liken doesn't see the summer as a vacation at all. She will continue working with programs that she created, such as Sowing Seed, events like the James Beard Celebrity Chef Tour, and culinary programs such as the Annual Vail to Aspen Horseback Ride.
Her old digs will be occupied by Vintage, an all-day approchable concept, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in addition to late night snacks. Brodie Broderick, owner and general manager at Vintage, plans to have the doors open in June.
