Wings, Tacos, and Brewing Fests: 12 Great Culinary Events in June

SAMPLING FOR HOPE
When: June 4, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
WhereRedLine Gallery (2350 Arapahoe Street).
What:  SafeHouse Denver is putting together an evening full of tastings from some of Denver's best chefs for a great cause. Attendees will be treated to small plates prepared by some of Denver's culinary elite, as well as a food-themed silent auction, and a "Cork Draw" wine pull. Proceeds from the event will go toward operating the Extended Stay Program at SafeHouse Denver - a new facility that allows families faced with hard times to have access to necessary resources and a more permanent place to stay. VIP judges will select the best dish for each food category: appetizer, entrée and dessert. Judges include: Belen De Leon of 9News and DJ Bedz of the Denver Nuggets.

APPLEJACK BREWDOWN
When: Saturday, June 6 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Where: AppleJack, 3320 Youngfield Street, Wheat Ridge
What:  Imbibe, Denver Active 20-30 and Applejack Wine & Spirits are teaming up to host Applejack's first beer festival that will benefit Denver Active 20-30's Children's Foundation. The event will include food trucks, breweries, live music and lawn games. A beer tasting with over 30 different breweries will be available with the purchase of a designated ticket.

CULTURE JAM
When: Saturday, June 6 from 5 to 10 p.m.
Where: Left Hand Brewing Co., 1265 Boston Avenue, Longmont
What: Left Hand Brewing Company's live world music concert, Culture Jam, will return this year with a variety of live performances featuring music, dance, and artistic expression. Latin rock Grammy-award winner La Santa Cecilia will be headlining the event that benefits the Left Hand Brewing Foundation and Intercambio and Himalaya Healthcare, which provides Nepal earthquake relief. Local food vendors and craft beer from none other than Left Hand will be provided.

SANITAS BEER FEST
When: Saturday, June 6, 2 to 10 p.m.
Where: Sanitas Brewing, 3550 Frontier Ave, Boulder
What:  Boulder's music and craft beer festival, Sanitas, is set to take place on Saturday, June 6 from 2 to 6 p.m at Sanitas Brewing Co. headquarters. The day will include tons of beers, seven local bands, and plenty of food trucks and vendors to keep guests occupied. Pre-sale tickets are $8 and $10 tickets will be sold at the door. VIP tickets are also available and offer a number of inclusions like VIP seating, catered food throughout the event, artist meet and greets and more.

WINGS & WHISKEY
When: June 7, 3 p.m. for VIP entry and 4 p.m. for General Admission
Where: Ace Eat Serve, 501 E 17th Avenue
What: Some of Denver's top chefs will compete for the title of Denver's Wing King at the 2nd Annual Wings & Whiskey. There will be whiskey drinks, a wing eating contest, and live music by the Whiskey Folk (featuring members of The Congress). Participating chefs include Amos Watts and Steve Redzikowski from Acorn, Jamey Fader of the Big Red F, and Mark Dym of Marco's Coal Fired Pizza.

POST BREWING COMPANY 2ND ANNUAL BACKYARD BENEFIT
When: Tuesday, June 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: The Post Brewing Company in Lafayette
What: The Post Brewing Company will host a four-course seasonal dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. with 100% of the proceeds going to the Growe Foundation's garden-to-table program. Menu items include a chicken rillette biscuit, a farmer's green salad, chimichurri grilled skirt steak and the Post's award winning cherry pie for dessert.

BLUES, BREWS, AND BARBECUES: OUT OF SIGHT BENEFIT
When: June 13 from 1 to 5 p.m.
Where: Tavern Downtown, 1949 Market Street
What: Join in on some blues, brews and barbecue. There will be live music, a craft beer competition, and a head-to-head barbecue cook-off between some of Denver's best chefs. Each attendee gets a commemorative beer mug and tokens to vote on food and beer.

GREAT DIVIDE TURNS 21
When: Saturday, June 13 at 2 to 6 p.m.
Where: 3395 Brighton Boulevard
What:  Great Divide Brewing Company will host an epic 21st anniversary party at their headquarters on Saturday, June 13. The event will include food trucks, special release beers, and live music throughout the night from Gin Doctors, A. Tom Collins, and more. There might even be a few Yeti sightings...

22ND ANNUAL COLORADO BARBECUE CHALLENGE
When: June 18 through 20
Where: Frisco, CO
What: Each year more than 70 barbeque masters travel to "The Main Street of the Rockies," to compete for a variety of awards, including the coveted grand champion and reserve champion titles. Winners of the Colorado BBQ Challenge will then compete in the American Royal - the "World Series" of barbeque. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample sample some of the state's best barbecue, enjoy live music, watch chef demonstrations, pig races and more. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

COOKING DEMO WITH ANUPY SINGLA
When: Friday, June 19 from 3 to 4 p.m.
Where: Le Creuset, 158 Fillmore Street
What:  Bestselling Indian cookbook author, Anupy Singla, will host a hands-on cooking demonstration. Attendees will learn how to make healthy, authentic recipes from Singla's most recent cookbook, Indian For Everyone. She is the author of three cookbooks, all of which aim to demystify Indian cooking through over 100 recipes.

DINNER WITH CHEF GABRIELLE HAMILTON
When: Monday, June 22, multiple seatings
Where: Frasca Food and Wine, 1738 Pearl St, Boulder
What: Frasca Food and Wine will welcome James Beard Award winning chef and author Gabrielle Hamilton of Prune (NYC), along with winemaker Jasmine Hirsch of Hirsch Vineyards and Rajat Parr of Sandhi Wines. Hamilton's writing has been featured in publications like the New York TimesBon Appetit, and Food & Wine Magazineamong others, contributing to her 2012 Writing & Literature Award from the James Beard Foundation. Frasca's Chef Lachlan will re-create some of the dishes in Hamilton's cookbook, Prune, for guests to enjoy along with paired wines from Rajat and Jasmine.

TOP TACO
When: Thursday June 25, VIP Tasting 5 p.m., competition and General Admission begins at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Denver Sculpture Park at The Denver Performing Arts Center
What: For the second time, Denverites will vote on Top Creative Taco, Top Traditional Taco, and Top Margarita. General admission tickets include unlimited taco and margarita tasting, voting for the top taco and margarita, tequila and spirit tasting, and live music. VIP tickets offer early entry to the event, access to the VIP lounge, private tasting, special premium tequila tasting, three-month membership in the Dining Out card program, and more.

Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour
When: Saturday, June 27 through Sunday, June 28 from 1 to 6 p.m. daily
Where: River Run Village, Keystone Resort
What:  Guests of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour can expect to see bacon in just about every shape; s'mores, ice cream and Colorado's largest bacon Bloody Mary bar. There will be an official bacon education center, an instagram selfie contest, an eating contest and a free concert from AC/DC female cover band, Hell's Belles.
