Moxie Bread Co., a new bakery, breakfast, and lunch spot, will open its doors in Louisville in the next couple of weeks. Brainchild of Andy Clark who most recently served as Vice President of Business Development for Izzio's Bread (formerly Udi's), Moxie is calling a former East Coast deli located at 641 Main Street home. In a casual and comfortable 1,800 square foot space, the new bakery will welcome guests with a case full of breads, house-made bialys, and a menu that includes everything from muffins and cookies to lunch-friendly sandwiches and coffee.

Highlight alert: Moxie will make and offer the famed Kouign Amann pastry in a variety of ways, maybe up to 10 of them. The croissant dough-based pastry can be filled with a variety of things and Moxie will take that opportunity to try things like flour de sell, Nutella, or plum among other seasonal fruits.

Clark will tap into his love of European-style bread and will bring a variety of options from German to Italian and French breads. He will be flour in an old 20 inch stone mill he found in North Carolina. Turkey red wheat, which he is sourcing from a fifth generation farmer in Kansas, will be featured prominently.

Much like neighbors Lucky's Pie and Sweet Cow, Moxie will be very family-friendly. Its parlor includes a big communal table, old school chandeliers that make the space seems really cozy, a piano for those inclined to strike a tune, and a wall dedicated to chalk art and other little kids activities.

Moxie will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. A pizza party night, complete with live music, will be hosted on Wednesdays for those wanting to have dinner at the bakery every now and again.
