The Union Station outpost of Boulder-born Zoe Ma Ma received a positive review from Westword this week. Critic Gretchen Kurtz raved about the Sichuan full-bodied braised-beef noodle soup that the casual spot serves. She appreciated the deeply flavored liquid as well as rest of the components "bok choy, hunks of fork-tender beef that murmured of anise, and a tangle of chewy noodles that seemed a close cousin to ramen thanks to all the eggs." The real gem in this review is the peek into Zoe Ma Ma's secret menu that includes a scallion pancake, with long green scallions threaded inside the batter and a seafood noodle soup.
New ramen eatery Osaka Ramen received two (of four) stars this week from the Denver Post. Restaurant reviewer Bill Porter liked the tightly edited menu, the contemporary decor, and the swift but on-point service. A standout dish was the vegetable version with Thai green-coconut curry, but Porter also really liked the Tonkotsu ramen.
