After a four year hiatus, brothers Toshi and Yasu Kizaki, who also own Sushi Den and Izakaya Den, are bringing back Ototo to the Old South Pearl dining scene in August.
In a newly remodeled space, Ototo's new incarnation includes an intimate dining room serving Japanese robata-style tapas, sashimi, grilled whole fish, and noodles. Chef and owner Toshi Kizaki personally selected a variety of Japanese whiskey, sake, local beer and boutique wines.
To create an authentic Japanese experience, Ototo will offer a chef-driven small bites menu from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. that will include dishes like live sea urchin, sautéed burdock root, cold tofu, sardines, anchovies, and more.
When it relaunches, the restaurant will be open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday.
