After a revamp of its space and menu, Basta reopened its doors at 3601 Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder. The five year old restaurant who dropped "pizzeria" from its name two years ago, continues to create fabulous pies, but now focuses more heavily on wood-fire cooking, progressive technique, and dedicated hospitality.
With a reconfigured menu, chef and owner Kelly Whitaker has committed to offering a changing selection of seasonal dishes that highlight wood-fire cooking. Bonus: A pre-order program for family-style dining experiences is now in place. Guests can order popular, off-the-menu dishes in advance, like large format proteins with sides, or lasagna, which was recently featured on the cover of the 5280 Cookbook.
What else changed? Bottle-aged, batched and traditional cocktails were added to the menu and a select beer list has also been developed, featuring specific styles to pair with the flavors from the wood-fire oven. Small but mighty modifications to the space give guests a front seat to the kitchen and bar.
