Wine Dinners, Taiwanese Dessert, and Bottomless Mussels

LOHI — Duo Restaurant will host a Castelfelder Wine Dinner on Monday, July 20, to honor founder Alfons Giovanett who attended renowned wine school on San Michele all’Adige. Seating will begin at 5:45 p.m. and guests can look forward to the first pour of Lagrein Rosato. A three course meal and wine pairing will follow, including delicious Italian bites like fluke crudo, charred bison tongue, and a cannellini bean "en croute." BOULDER — Ian Giovanett from Castelfeder will be pouring some of his wines from Alto-Adige, a northern region in Italy, at Frasca Food and Wine on Monday, July 20. This region, with hot days, and cool nights due to its altitude, produce some of the most aromatic whites in Italy. Pinot Nero and impenetrably dark, coffee and boysenberry scented Lagrein are also common. Cost is $50 for a prix fixe 4-course tasting menu and $40-$50 for the optional wine flight. LOHI — Linger’s newest dessert offering is something you are likely unfamiliar with, which gives sweet-lovers all the more of a reason to try it out. Taiwanese Shaved Ice, or Xue Hua Bing, is a cross between ice cream and shaved ice desserts, featuring textured "snow" flavored ice topped with fruit, sauce, and other assorted goodies. Visitors can pick a dairy-free base (Matcha, Thai Tea, Coffee, Coconut, or Strawberry-Banana), three toppings, a sauce, and get it to go or for the end of a sit down meal. Ices are $8 and can be vegan or gluten-free by request.
