A favorite Highlands watering hole, Highland Tap and Burger, just announced its expansion into a seven-block, $300 million development called the Alexan Project at Sloan's Lake. Tap and Burger at Sloan's Lake is the first tenant announced in the new project. The Alexan Project will occupy blocks five and six of the seven-block SLOAN's project, a new 369-unit luxury apartment development by Trammell Crow Residential. Owners of Highland Tap and Burger, Juan Padro and Katie O'Shea Padro, will open the new location in the 4,600-square-foot space at 1565 Raleigh Street.
Signature menu items, such as Stranahan's barrel-smoked chicken wings, IPA mac-and-cheese, and 'shroom-luva's burger will make a comeback in the new space, while new menu items will be introduced by a yet-to-be-announced chef. Eli Odell, a partner in Tap and Burger Concepts LLC, will carry on as executive chef. The focus on Colorado craft beer and spirits will remain, offering between 30 and 40 draft handles as well as wine and cocktails. The space is set to seat more than 200, presently imagined with a raised patio, island bar, and private dining rooms.
