Restaurateur Patrick Mangold-White is working furiously on opening his fourth venture Mas Kaos at 4526 Tennyson Street, but in the meantime, he is not letting his newly opened neighbors at Call to Arms Brewery go without food. Mangold-White rented out an orange food truck that will provide some grub to the hot new Berkeley brewery until the doors to his restaurant open in early fall. The truck serves Mexican fare - think Colorado duck, carnitas, barbacoa, queso e frijoles, plus other snacks like chips, salsa, and guacamole.
Mas Kaos, a hybrid of of the Platt Park South Pearl concepts Uno Mas Taqueria y Cantina and Kaos Pizzeria, will open in September. Set in the large renovated "John's Garage" warehouse development at 45th and Tennyson, the new eatery will have 160-seats, mezzanine and indoor/outdoor bar and it will serve street tacos, wood-fired Naples-style pizzas, plus a selection of craft beers, tequilas, cocktails, and wines. Mangold-White plans to create separate dishes for Call to Arms that patrons of the taproom could order from a walk-up window.
