Colorado breweries were awarded 19 medals last weekend in the U.S. Open Beer Championship. The international competition that took place in Oxford, Ohio drew some 4,000 entries, with some of them from places like Australia, China, Czech Republic, Canada, Belgium, Germany, Mexico, and England. Over 90 styles of beer and ciders were presented to judges who did not know what beers were tasting when judging.
Ballast Point Brewing in San Diego, California was named Grand National Champion, but Colorado represented well with AC Golden who came in the 9th overall place, New Belgium, who got four medals, Oskar Blues who got a gold medal, and nine others who came home with awards of their own.
The Colorado breweries that received a medal are: Oskar Blues, Aspen Brewing, New Belgium, City Star, AC Golden, Bootstrap Brewing, Verboten Brewing, Elevation Beer, Boulder Beer, WeldWerks Brewing, Denver Beer Co., and Liquid Mechanics.
