The Backyard on Blake development, located between 30th and 31st on Blake St, announced its newest addition, The Preservery. According to the recent BusinessDen article, the New Orleans-inspired eatery will be helmed by local couple Obe and Whitney Ariss and is slated to open in January of 2016.
The couple's vision for the new RiNo spot is that of a "mini, Indie Whole Foods" with inspiration drawn from New Orleans cuisine and music culture, of course, but also from the couple's time working at Marczyk's Fine Foods. The Arisses hope to supplement the RiNo district's existing brewery scene with their inexpensive yet classy market-style eatery that will stay open late to feed the hungry masses.
Both Obe and Whitney Ariss have strong backgrounds in music and plan to reflect that in the new project. The name, The Preservery, comes from a famous jazz hall in the New Orleans French Quarter called Preservation Hall. The new RiNo spot will feature live music alongside food options like the New Orleans classic, the muffuletta, and is intended to fill in the gaps in the neighborhood's rapidly growing bar and restaurant culture.
