After 5 1/2 years of serving one popular weekly lunch, Basta will be serving its last daytime pork sandwich on Friday, August 7 between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Chef Kelly Whitaker decided to discontinue lunch service and focus on the restaurant's nightly dinner, as well as special events and pop-ups.
"Evenings are so busy," Whitaker said, "we decided we'd like to focus more of our - and our staff's - energy there. With the recent renovations and menu changes, this segment continues to grow for us, and the vibe of the restaurant has become more conducive to dinner service. [...] Special events, holiday brunches and pop-ups have always been important to us, and we feel discontinuing lunch will give us more of an opportunity to increase offerings there."
