Longmont's Sugarbeet made quite the impression on the Denver Post's critic Bill Porter. With a rating of 3.5 stars (out of 4), the contemporary American place located at 101 Pratt Street, was called by Porter "something of a testimony to the renaissance of America's food scene in recent decades." Chef Seth Witherspoon's Paccheri Ondulati, ricotta gnocchi, and meatballs came highly recommended.
The original Osaka Ramen, which opened this spring in RiNo, was lauded this week in Westword's review. Critic Gretchen Kurtz fell hard for the mochi doughnuts, a combination of the fried treats with a middle made up of the opaque, glutinous rice cake. But she also appreciated the tonkotsu, kara age chicken, and shishito peppers.
