Sweets Week is still in full swing here at Eater and cakes must be an integral part of it. Decorated cakes can be out of this world: Colorful, inspiring, and ranging in theme from TV shows to films, games, hobbies, and websites.
Cake artist Jennifer Akina who practices her craft at Azucar Bakery, a delicious bakery set in a bright pink building at 1886 South Broadway, shared some of the creations of the team with Eater. There are Minions, chemistry books, spooky monsters and brains, motorcycles, fire trucks, airplanes, unicorns, Minecraft pieces, weights, suitcases, golf balls and golf courses, and so much more. Really, the world is your oyster.
If you are looking for a custom cake for your special event, head to Azucar on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the bakery's weekly open house. A cake artist will work with you every step of the way to make your vision into a sweet confection. And if you need more options, consider Gateaux, Valhala Cakes, Happy Cakes, and Mermaids Bakery. And if you're looking for more cake porn, follow chef Akina on Instagram.
