On Thanksgiving eve, Cherry Creek North's divey and popular The Cherry Cricket was the site of a fire that forced a quick evacuation of guests and employees. No one was injured. The Denver Fire Department arrived and later tweeted about the incident prompting sorrow among those who love the iconic bar and eatery. The next day, there was a note on the door of the Cricket announcing the closure.
The bad news is that there was significant water damage and smoke damage and the repairs could take months, according to Westword. The good news is that the group that owns the business, Breckenridge-Wynkoop Holdings, was already planning to open a second outpost in the Ballpark neighborhood and that could serve as a replacement for those burger cravings for the time being. There is no precise timeline at this point but the second location will launch in a gorgeous brick building at 2200 Blake Street.
