Some have wondered aloud how a big company like World of Beer would do in a small town that likes independent businesses like Boulder. The skeptics that questioned the venture that barely got its start late this spring the foot of the Flatirons were onto something. Last week, the Florida-based company that mostly works on a franchise model, was evicted from its 3,800 square foot space, the Daily Camera reported.
A notice from Friday, December 16, posted on the door at 921 Pearl Street space, revealed the cause of the eviction: unpaid rent for more than a year. The past due amount, a monthly $15,595 that had accrued since April 2015, is now up to $116,163.66.
In February, World of Beer closed its LoDo location. Set at 1555 Blake Street, next to ChoLon Bistro, the beer emporium occupied a 4,100 square foot space for less than two years.
The remaining locations, Belmar and Cherry Creek, are unaffected by the Boulder eviction and closure.
