Cibo Closes in Lohi, Mizu Izakaya and Sushi Takes Over Space

A new Japanese eatery will sprout in the central LoHi location.

Ten month old bar and pizza spot Cibo shuttered its doors at its LoHi space set at 1560 Boulder Street. While it served approachable fare ranging from Neapolitan-inspired pies to sandwiches alongside affordable drinks, the eatery and bar owned by the group behind Marg's Taco Bistro chain never took off.

The prime space will be transformed into Mizu Izakaya and Sushi, a modern Japanese bar and eatery brainchild of Hong Jian Lee, who operates East Moon Asian Bistro & Sushi in Westminster. Mizu was originally planned for the space that houses Sushi Ronin and when the deal fell through, Lee continued to search for the right location in the neighborhood. His Denver project will bring sushi, Japanese small plates like skewers and more, and a good sake, beer, and whiskey selection.
