A temple to sweet doughy fried treats, Blue Box Doughnuts, is now open in Louisville at 459 S McCaslin Boulevard. Owner Shawnie Hansen started making doughnuts almost a year ago to bring back the magic of her grandma's sweet creations. Next thing she knew, a business was born in the town she calls home.
Hansen is committed to working with high quality products and no artificial products or coloring of any kind. In the lineup of offerings at Blue Box are doughnuts like the maple bourbon bacon, maple bourbon pecan, chocolate with peanut-butter sprinkle, vanilla bean glaze, but also fresh cinnamon rolls and brioche rolls with flavors like spiced apple caramel.
The doughnut shop, open daily from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m., is only one of the fabulous sweet treats that call Louisville home. Moxie Bread Co. and the original home of Sweet Cow Ice Cream are part of the small town as well.
