A former software man and a lawyer respectively, Josh Gertzen and Geraldine Kim turned their passion into a business when they launched Frozen Matter in Uptown Denver. Their 2,000 square foot cow to cone shop, now open to guests, is located at 530 East 19th and Pennsylvania.
Small batches, great ingredients, and novel flavor pairings are what this new sweet spot is about, all guided by deep knowledge of the process acquired through a 70 hour course at Penn State that Gertzen and Kim completed last year.
Make no mistake: There is more than ice cream at Frozen Matter. The bright modern shop that is open daily from 12 to 10 p.m. and until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays also sells ice pops and house-made soda.
