Que Bueno Suerte! will open early this summer in the space that previously housed Session Kitchen on at 1518 South Pearl Street. Mission Yogurt, Inc., the company that owns the restaurant, made a power move in the kitchen: Chef Dana Rodriguez of the popular Work & Class was brought on as consulting chef, while Vincente "Vinny" Sosa, her partner and fiancé, has taken the role of executive chef.
"Vinny and I have worked together for eight years," Rodriguez shared. "We have a great working relationship and this is a chance for that to grow in a different direction. I will be involved at the new restaurant in a consulting role on menu, food cost, and other details, and Vinnie will have the opportunity to really run the place from the ground up on a daily basis," she added.
Drawing on Rodriguez's North Mexican heritage and Sosa's South Mexican roots, Que Bueno Suerte! will serve upscale, modern eclectic Mexican cuisine for lunch and dinner, as well as offer a late-night component. "There will be tacos, but it won't be the kind of Mexican restaurant that serves smothered everything" Rodriguez said, "because that is really not what our cooking is about. There will also be things like octopus aquachile, mostly small shared plates but also some composed dishes for those who like an entree just to themselves," she explained.
Rod Tafoya, president of Mission Yogurt, is ready for a new challenge in a new neighborhood with a team built around "Vinny, as well as Dana, both of whom I have been eager to work with for a very long time," he shared. Tafoya's business also operates a variety of culinary concepts, including Root Down, Timberline Steaks & Grille, Etai’s and Qué Bueno! Mexican Grille at Denver International Airport.
Stay tuned for an exact opening date.
