Tucked away in a multi-tenant building located at 4426 Tennyson Street, Valhalla Cakes is now open in the Berkeley neighborhood.

The bright yellow-hued quaint shop, remodeled by owner Sam Slade, is mostly dedicated to decorative special-occasion cakes that patrons can order up a week in advance. Guests can also quickly personalize their confection, as the baker always keeps a couple of ready-made cakes on hand at all times.

Slade, who has an art degree and whose extensive cake decorating experience includes a seven year tenure at Le Bakery Sensual, can execute anything from cartoon characters to faces of current presidential candidates. She also offers cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and more from Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
