One man died in the residence located above Rosenberg's Bagels & Delicatessen during a fire last night. Fire crews arrived at the 27th and Welton building around 2:30 a.m. Monday after multiple 911 calls were placed. The victim of the blaze was found in what appeared to be a closet, according to a spokesperson for the Denver Fire Department.

Sources at the Five Points deli shared that the fire started in the upstairs apartment. The eatery lost electricity and as a result much of its refrigerated product was immediately compromised. Damage to the deli is mostly water-related, incurred as the fire was being extinguished. Rosenberg's is generally closed on Mondays, but the management does not anticipate reopening for at least one week.
