CAPITOL HILL — This year's Denver Comic Con debuts with a Name the Beer Release party and show at Stoney's Bar and Grill on Friday, May 20. The free event kicks off at 7:30 and will feature live music from the Gin Doctors, a 90's cover band, and Red 5 Band. This year's fan-named brew, the Snape-ricot, is a complicated and magical Apricot American lager - just like the man it's named after. The first 200 people will receive a limited edition pint glass. The artist of the glasses, Frankie Serna, will be present to sign the commemorative glasses.
AURORA — The Big Wonderful opens this Saturday at the Stanley Marketplace starting at noon. The weekend of food, music, shopping, and craft beers and cocktails will feature mostly local vendors and sellers. WhiteWater Ramble & Eufórquestra are set to play from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., respectively. Tickets for the all-ages event range from $5 to $15 and those 12 and under are admitted for free. BOULDER — Learn the tips and tricks of an professional food photographer with Zeal- Food for Enthusiasts this Sunday at 3 p.m.. Tweak your Twitter, inspire your Instagram, and fool your Facebook friends with the help of Root PR who brought in food photojournalist Rod Stern of Global Gumshoe and The Daily Meal. Zeal is hosting and will provide food and drinks as subjects. A second class will occur on Tuesday, May 24 from 4 to 6 p.m.. Tickets costs $40 for one class and $70 for both. FORT COLLINS — The Farmhouse at Jessup Farm redoes its spring season opener on Sunday, May 22 with the Chicken & Pickin' community dinner. The $10 fried chicken dinner will feature drinks from local breweries including Jessup Farm Barrel House, Old Colorado Brewing Co, and Odell Brewing Co. A portion of this month's sales will be donated to The House that Beer Built project apart of Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity. Bluegrass artists Erik Lunde is scheduled to perform. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m..
WEST HIGHLANDS — Tucked between Sloans Lake and the Highlands, SloHi Coffee Co. turns two this Sunday. The party starts at 10 a.m. with arrival of the Denver Street Boutique Fashion Truck and Copper Door Coffee brewing demonstration at 11 a.m. while live music from Wylie "Crazy Horse" Jones begins at noon.
