Anticipation has only heightened as time has passed since Mas Kaos, originally set to start serving late last summer, will finally open its doors to the Berkeley neighborhood this Thursday. The neighborhood spot, located in the new John's Garage development, an 8,200-square-foot warehouse blends popular Old South Pearl Street eateries, Uno Mas Taqueria Y Cantina and Kaos Pizza. To fully round out the comfort food concept – just add beer – and voila, the next-door neighbors are Call to Arms Brewery.
The hip space is split between two (and a quarter) floors with a large centerpiece white marble bar. Strings of twinkly lights hang from the unfinished rafters for a bright atmosphere to accompany the social environment. Dark wooden tables with white, hard plastic chairs are accented by burnt orange upholstery and light-wood finishes. A large, indoor-outdoor patio adds to the attraction.
Along with a wide array of house-brewed craft beers, guests can feast on street tacos and Napoli style wood-grilled pizza, as well as exclusive dishes for the brewery that can be ordered from a walk-up window in the taproom. A selection of cocktails, such as Palomas and Margaritas, as well as wine, nicely complement the food menu. Stay tuned for photos and more details about the space.
