Punch Bowl Social, a growing eatery and entertainment emporium that got its start in Denver in 2012, added Matt Selby to its team. Founder Robert Thompson tapped the longtime Denver chef to watch over the culinary operations at the original location in Baker and the upcoming Stapleton one, and also to train new executive chefs in other cities as the group pursues locations nationwide.
Outside of Denver, Punch Bowl now operates in Portland, Austin, Detroit, Cleveland and Schaumburg, IL. Indianapolis and Minneapolis will join the gaming fray later this year and five more locations (Sacramento, San Diego, Rancho Cucamonga, Chicago and Dallas) are planned for 2017 with a Brooklyn one in early 2018.
"I've been looking for a ‘work home' for a long time now and I know I've found it among the team at Punch Bowl Social," said Selby of his new gig. "I'm looking forward to the tremendous opportunities and growth with Robert and his team."
The chef departed his longtime gig at Vesta Dipping Grill in 2012 to join the team at the short-lived Corner House. Since then, he had stints at Central Bistro & Bar and most recently at Homegrown Tap & Dough. The position he now holds was previously handled by chef Sergio Romero who moved up in the company and now holds the title of regional operations director.
