Terminal Bar's Plaza Beer Garden Opens Monday

The revamp includes a new German street food menu and Oktoberfest-style tables

Union Station is revealing its highly anticipated Terminal Bar makeover starting Monday with the opening of the Wynkoop Plaza Beer Garden.

The 120-seat plaza will be lined with Oktoberfest-style communal picnic tables. Beers on tap will include Union Station Kölsch brewed by Denver Beer Co., and a walk-up grill will sell German street food; Currywurst, sausages, and homemade pretzels will be available.

A beer garden is just the first phase of Terminal Bar's three-part menu rollout from chef Lon Symensma. The indoor beer hall (also with communal tables) in August will convert a train ticket counter to a walk-up service window serving cheese curds, chicken schnitzel fingers, pretzels, and sausages.

Finally, in September, the beer hall will launch its full-service menu, with items such as beef sauerbraten with red cabbage spaetzle, fish croquettes with horseradish tartar sauce, and pork shank with buttered potatoes and pickled peppers.

Seating will be first come, first served both indoors and out, and food will be sold starting at 11 a.m. daily. The bar opens at 10 a.m.
