Anointed BBQ & Soul Food, brainchild of Marriee "Mo" Jones, is now open at 2504 West Hampden Avenue, Westword reported. The casual building, former home of Country Time Barbecue, is now a take-out-only joint, with a few chairs inside, serving Florida-style barbecue plus some Southern specialties.
Daily selections may include ribs, rib tips, brisket, chicken or pork shoulder from the smoker, but calling ahead (303.781.5757) to ask what's on tap if you have a specific craving is advised. Barbecue lovers may also find fried chicken and catfish, collard greens, black-eyed peas, and homemade peach cobbler, among others.
Anointed is open from 11 a.m to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, later on Friday and Saturday. For the time being, this is a cash only establishment.
