The sixteen year run that Celtic Tavern had in LoDo will come to an end this weekend when the Irish-themed sports-centric venue will close its doors for good. Ten year old sister bar Delaney's, which resides next door, is also saying good bye to loyal guests. Last weekend, the businesses posted a sign that informed patrons of the impending closure and thanked them for the good times.
The sign also announced that a last hurrah boozy celebration will take place on Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 25. On Sunday, September 25, those interested in keeping a piece of the bars can do that by attending the sale of photos, mirrors, and more that will be hosted at Delaney's.
There's no word on what will replace these two popular spots but the entire block, called the Dairy Block (Wazee and Blake Streets between 18th and 19th Streets), is undergoing a major transformation. A six-story tower is under construction at the corner of Wazee Street and 18th Street, which will be home to Maven, a 172-room hotel by Sage Hospitality. A second location of Kachina Southwestern Grill will anchor the space.
