Chef Tom Coohill of Coohills in LoDo has gotten out of this five year old kitchen to create a chef coat that addresses the wants and needs of today's culinary world. The French-trained veteran now introduces Ikonic Chef, a groundbreaking line of chefwear featuring chef coats that accomplish several goals: easy to clean, water-repellent, comfortable over long hours.
The coats utilize the same high-performance, breathable and moisture-wicking fabrics that have been available to elite outdoor enthusiasts for ages. On the outside, the textile is treated to be water-repellent – making it hard for stains to set – while on the inside, a ground-breaking treatment helps the material absorb perspiration, keeping skin dry and cool.
The design is attractive and modern and offers sought-after features including a reach-in chest-level pocket perfect for a cellphone or notes, a hidden pocket for tweezers, underarm vents, a large sleeve pocket, a sturdy locker loop and a button front with reinforced four-hole buttons.
Ikonic Chef coats are now available online. The brand is also in the process of developing a full line of chefwear well beyond the chef coats, including aprons, knife bags, hats, pants and much more. In addition, each month a new "Ikonic Chef" is revealed on the site, starting with Lon Symensma of ChoLon and Cho77, who models the coat and shares his story.
