Branded with the most intriguing new name of the year, Bang Up To The Elephant! had hoped to debut by September at the latest. But the secretive Capitol Hill project is now fully committed to a fall debut.
Currently hiring, the cavernous space at 1310 Pearl St. sits close to 13th Avenue. Bang plans to transform the space into a "creative casual-service restaurant, cafe, bar, and venue."
Formerly known as Mighty Mighty Sparrow! and the Sea Maiden, the updated quirky moniker is derived from Victorian underworld slang, meaning fair and just.
Kevin Delk and the partners behind the equally eclectic Beatrice & Woodsley and Mario’s Double Daughters Salotto created the restaurant, with executive chef Travis Messervey overseeing what Bang is calling the “fresh, bold, and festive cuisine." The restaurant plans to serve brunch, lunch and dinner, as well asentertainment from eclectic performance artists.
Earlier this year, the team imagined a layout containing a grab-and-go cafe with a walk-up window, plus a 6,000-square-foot tropical bar and lounge serving tiki-drink creations.
