Fast-casual poke bar QuickFish officially opens up shop in the Avanti F&B incubator today at 11 a.m. The Portland-based restaurant comes from the same innovators behind Bamboo Sushi — which will open its brick-and-mortar early November also in LoHi. The menu will highlight eight signature bowls with the added option of building your own concoctions. Sides will include a yuzu guac and chips, side salad, miso soup and a seaweed salad.
“Poke is a really interesting one for us. After working on the supply chain for Bamboo Sushi for 10 years, (while) coming up with this really amazing proprietary group of sustainable vendors, we have this great product and all the mind-share of the chefs creating the sauces with a lot of different flavors. To put all this stuff that’s done really well at Bamboo Sushi into a bowl and serve it here as poke is really exciting. And it really differentiates us from what is out there in the market between the sushi rice, better sauces and the highest quality fish,” says Cory Schisler, creative director at parent company Sustainable Restaurant Group.
Prices for bowls will range anywhere from $10 to $14 making this quality fast-casual bar high on the must-try list. Some of the standout bowls include the bamboo bowl which is essentially a deconstructed version of a bamboo sushi roll with Oregan albacore, chunks of avocado, crispy shallots, scallion, nori, sweet onion and mixed with a green machine sauce. Another knockout signature bowl, that Schliser relates to a “traditional Hawaiian poke bowl” is the island bowl made with meaty big-eye tuna, sweet onion, avocado, Jacobsen sea salt, sesame brittle, cucumber mixed seaweed and tossed in a classic Hawaiian sauce. It’s recommended that customers pair each bowl with a specific beverage hand picked by the bar manager of Avanti.
Along with the normal hours at Avanti, QuickFish will also be open for brunch on the weekends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
