Last Halloween, shortly before they were evicted from their original location, the owners of The Inventing Room handed out treats to costumed customers. This Halloween Ian and Stacey Kleinman can pass out candy once again from The Inventing Room Dessert Shop’s new permanent location at 4433 West 29th Avenue.
More like science experiments than straightforward desserts, chef Kleinman’s candy offerings include Twizzler space foam, liquid nitrogen popcorn and Cheetos, and compressed apple pie. He also will sell creative versions of ice cream and sundaes (creme brulee tart with bananas Foster ice cream), and drinks such as the strawberry lime Rickey with condensed milk.
The shop officially opens Sunday in SloHi and will operate from noon to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Fans of Kleinman’s other food creations can plan to attend one of his monthly five-course dinners at the space’s private supper club Gobblefunk. Each dinner is themed (think “nature” or “Andy Warhol”) and accommodates 16 guests.
