Football fans will be pleased by the opening this week of RiNo Beer Garden, a sprawling German-style pub with no less than 18 big screens and 60 beers on tap. The new bar and restaurant in the former Jake’s Sports & Spirits sells a German-leaning food menu — pork schnitzel, chicken and dumplings, sausage, pretzels — along with Colorado craft beers, cocktails, and imports.

Run by the owners of Historian’s Ale House, RiNo Beer Garden’s claim to fame will be its 4,000-square-foot, 300-capacity patio that can be used throughout the year, as long as snow isn’t on the ground. Twelve outdoor TVs, two firepits, and four heaters make the wood deck at 38th and Walnut Streets fall sports-ready.

The property underwent more than $1 million in renovations for its new concept. New booth seating, a room-spanning bar, and an updated kitchen add to external improvements. Jake’s creators Andy Feinstein and Martin Chernoff closed their neighborhood bar in March. They are leasing the space for this new project that sits conveniently by the 38th and Blake RTD station.

Status: RiNo Beer Garden is officially open for business from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., with food served until 10 p.m., daily at 3800 Walnut Street.
